(Washington, D.C.)- Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) recently returned from a six-day trip to the Middle East where he visited Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Kuwait, Iraq, and Belgium. The Congressional Delegation was one of the first to visit the area since President Barack Obama took office on January 20, 2009, and pledged a greater global dialogue between America and countries in the Middle East. The Delegation met with leaders from the Middle East, NATO, and the American military.
“As a Member of the Intelligence Committee, it was an honor to travel to the region on behalf of the United States of America to begin a new era to start improving relations in the region. It was also an honor to meet with military personnel from Maryland to thank them for their service and sacrifice,” said Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD).
Congressman Ruppersberger traveled to the region with Congressman Frank Kratovil of Virginia, Congressman Adam Smith of Washington State, and Congressman Glenn Nye of Virginia.
